- 2-Way: Bet for the dealer and the player on one roll.
- Ace: A dice throw with the value of two.
- Advantage: This is the advantage of the casino over the players on any bet.
- Any Craps: You can bet on 2, 3 or 12 being rolled next.
- Any Seven: Betting on the next roll being a 7.
- Arm: A player who has skills in throwing the dice and improves the probability that certain numbers will be rolled.
- Back Line: Another way of describing the Don’t Pass Line Bet.
- Behind the Line: Once a point number has been set and a come out roll has taken place, you can bet on free odds.
- Betting Right: To place a bet on the shooter during the come and pass line bets.
- Betting Wrong: Placing a bet against the shooter during the Don’t Come and Pass Line Bets.
- Big Eight: A bet that an 8 will be rolled before a 7. This Bet pays even-money if successful.
- Big Six: A bet that a 6 will be rolled before a 7. If won, the bet pays out even money.
- Big Red: Placing a bet on the number 7.
- Bones: A different name for dice.
- Boxcars: A slang term for 12. Also known as the midnight hour.
- Box Numbers: This is the place bet number range; 4-5-6-8-9-10.
- Come Bet: After a point is established, a bet is placed. Pass line betting is exactly the same.
- Come out roll: Rolling the dice to determine the point number.
- Crap Numbers: 2, 3, and 12 are the crap numbers.
- Craps Check: To hedge your pass line bet, you should place any craps bet during the come out roll.
- Don’t Come Bet: When the point is established, a don’t pass Bet is made.
- Don’t Pass Bet: A wager that the shooter won’t roll the point.
- Double Odds: A pass/come bet that is double the size of the original wager.
- Front Line: Another way of saying Pass Line Bet.
- Garden: Another term for field bet.
- Double Odds: A bet that costs double the initial Come, Don’t Come, Pass Line and Don’t Pass Line bets.
- Easy Way: Any dice roll of the numbers 4, 6, 8, or 10 but where the total is by different numbers on each die. For example 3+1, 4+2, 5+3, 6+4.
- Even money: Where the payout is the same as the bet amount (1:1).
- Field bet: Betting on 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12.
- Five Times Odds: Placing a free odds bet at the cost of five times the original Bet.
- Free Odds Bet: These are Pass Bets, Don’t Pass bets, Come Bets, or Don’t Come Bets that are placed after the first dice roll has true odds.
- Front Line: The spot on the craps table where you will place your pass line bets.
- Hard Way: You can win by betting on 4, 6, 8, or 10 if both dice have the same number (2+2, 3+3, 4+4, etc.).
- Hardway Bet: Placing a bet that a 4, 6, 8, or 10 with both dice showing the same number will be rolled before a 7.
- Hi-Lo: Bets on the numbers 2 and 12.
- Hi-Lo-Yo: Bets on the numbers 2, 12, and 11.
- Hop Bet: A single bet that the next roll of the dice will be a specific combination.
- Hoping Hardway: A hope bet that the dice roll will be a pair of 2’s.
- Horn Bet: A single bet that the next dice roll will either be a 2, 3, 11, and 12.
- Hot Roll: When a shooter holds for a long time and keep on passing before “sevening-out”.
- Hot Table: A table with the shooters frequently hitting the point.
- Inside Numbers: To place a bet on either 5, 6, 8, or 9.
- Insurance Bet: When you place multiple bets that cover one another.
- Lay Bet: Placing a bet that a 7 will be rolled before the point numbers. If you wager incorrectly, there is a 5% commission.
- Lay Odds: An optional extra bet that is placed against the dice.
- Layout: The positions on the craps table where you will place your bets.
- Line Bet: This can be either a Pass Line or Don’t Pass Bet.
- Little Joe: Another term for a dice roll of four.
- Little Phoebe: Another term for the dice roll of five.
- Loaded Dice: Dice that are not the correct weight and can influence the outcome of the game. Fortunately, you will not find such dice when playing online.
- Marker: A plastic discussed to make the point number on the craps table by the dealer.
- Midnight: Another term to describe a dice roll of 12.
- Natural: When the dice roll outcome during the come-out roll is either a 7 or 11.
- Odds Bet: A bet that has no house edge.
- Off: When certain craps bets will be safe on the next dice roll.
- One Roll Bet: When bets are either won or lost with the next roll of the dice.
- Out 7: The first dice roll after the come out bet is a 7.
- Outside Numbers: Numbers that make the place bet – 4, 5, 9 and 10.
- Parlay: The action of taking winnings from one bet and placing it on another bet to make an even larger bet amount.
- Pass Line: The section on the craps table where you will place Pass Line Bets.
- Place Bet: a bet that a place number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) will be rolled before a 7.
- Playing the Field: Placing a bet on either 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12.
- Point Number: 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. During the come-out roll, a dice roll of these numbers will become the point. This number will then need to be thrown again before for a 7 to win.
- Press a Bet: To either double or parlay a bet.
- Proposition Bet: A combination of hardway and one-roll bets in the center of the table.
- Right Bettor: A bet on the shooter passing or winning on the come-out roll or making the point.
- Sequence bet: When multiple dice rolls are needed to determine the outcome.
- Seven Out: After establishing the point, the shooter rolls a 7 before the point number again.
- Shoot: A series of dice rolls before the shooter “sevens-out”.
- Snake Eyes: Another term for a pair of 1’s to give a total of 2.
- Taking the Odds: As a right bettor, you can place a free-odds bet. By taking odds on the dice, the craps player has an advantage over the house.
- Ten-Times Odds: A free odds bet that is made at the rate of 10 times the original bet.
- Tripple odds: A free odds bet that is made at the rate of 3 times the original bet.
- True Odds: Probability of any given number coming up on a roll.
- Vigorish: The commission the casino site takes on certain bets.
- Working: When certain bets become a risk on the next dice roll.
- Whirl Bet: Placing an equal bet on either 2, 3, 7, 11, or 12.
- Wrong Bettor: A player who bets that the dice won’t pass or that he will miss the point.
